A few blessed friends and I took a trip to Central America early this year. This quick video takes a peek at what went down on the island of Ometepe, Nicaragua.
The island of Ometepe was made from two large volcanoes, one of which is still active. It sits in the middle of a HUGE freshwater lake and is surprisingly home to the freshwater Bull Shark.
After landing on the island, we took a 2-hour ride to a hostel that I read about in Lonely Planet, fingers crossed that the $5 per night lodging would be somewhat hospitable and that there would be space for 6 “cheles” such as ourselves. Our wildest dreams came true as we all fell in love with the people, the climate, the cows (but not the 4am rooster), the food, the lake, the volcano, the sunsets, the bunkbeds, goat (the person not the animal), the bikes, the kayaks, the wildlife, the sunsets. . .
